1650km (1025mi) that separate Buenos Aires from the lovely San Martin de los Andes. Even thought that might not sound too appealing, modern buses offer a very comfortable ride, with totally reclinable seats, music, videoscreen, as well as bar and catering service. As far as we know, bus companies do not have special prices for foreigners, so it is probably the best to buy your ticket once you are in Buenos Aires. All respectable bus companies have a sale stand at the Retiro bus terminal in Buenos Aires (Avenida Ramos Mejía 1680) [ ] ; you can buy your ticket there, by telephone or by internet at the bus company’s website.

From Bariloche: Although many scheduled Busses leaving from the Bariloche Bus Terminal will take you to San Martin de los Andes in less than 3 hours, the best way to cover the 200km that separate these cities is, undoubtedly, via the famous “Seven Lakes Route”. Most travel agencies in Bariloche offer this service, which includes plenty of stops during the trip in order to enjoy the wonderful landscapes surrounding you on this drive.

From Mendoza: Almost 1200km (746mi) separate Mendoza from San Martin de los Andes and, unfortunately no direct flight is available between these cities. One possibility is to fly back to Buenos Aires from Mendoza and then from Buenos Aires to San Martin de los Andes. The total flight time would add up to about 3½ hours, but you should also take into account the 1-2 hours wait at the airport.
At the moment there is also no direct bus service between the cities of Mendoza and San Martin de los Andes. If you would like to travel by bus, you will probably need to travel from Mendoza to Neuquen –the capital of the province with the same name- (11 hours, AndesMar) and then from Neuquen to San Martin de los Andes (6½ hours, Vía Bariloche) .
